Do you know what February 7th is?

Friendships are important but like a garden they need to be nurtured to survive.  The busier we get it’s easier to rely on phone calls or texting. Words are important but so are actions. If it’s impossible to get together send a card. The sequence of steps takes time, but you can set the pace.

Selecting a card can be fun. Collect some with sentiments or blank notecards to have handy. Personalize it even more with the postage stamp. Themed forever stamps are available at your local Post Office. Pick up a variety to keep on hand. I’ve used Elvis stamps, (Elvis loving friend), a celebration motif with confetti (special occasions), and my latest find cowboy hats or boots (Texas pride) themed stamps.

Write a short message.  It can be as simple as what happened to bring them to your mind. Sign it sending hugs or your favorite saying. Address the envelope, add your special stamp and mail it. They’ll be thrilled you’re thinking of them. You’ll smile when you think of your friend opening your card.

I honestly didn’t make this holiday up, but I could have. Cards have been one of my favorite things to send and receive for years, and now I love making them.  So, if you missed it this year it’s the same date next year…lots of time to get ready, mark your calendar, start collecting cards and plan a visit your local Post Office soon.
